What watch are you currently wearing?

I’m wearing an Omega Seamaster Professional 300M, reference number 2594.52.00.

Why this watch?

I was looking for a classic diving watch. This model won out over the Rolex Submariner and the Tudor Black Bay, both of which were on my short list. The caliber 3301 was a deciding factor for me. The movement was produced by Frederic Piguet exclusively for Omega. I like the well-balanced dial with subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, the date at 6 o’clock, and the “old” sword hands. The three-link stainless steel bracelet, which is typically paired with Speedmasters, also suits the large, almost indestructible look of this Seamaster. I’m a big fan of Porsche, and the red hands and numerals on the chronograph dials remind me of classic dashboard instruments. These also underscore the sportiness of the watch. This timepiece can be worn with jeans or a sports jacket and is truly the perfect “daily rocker.”

What do you like most about this watch?

I like that this watch isn’t a “standard” Seamaster. It has many unique features that you only notice when you take a closer look.

What have you experienced with this watch?

One special moment was the birth of my second son. I used the chronograph to time the frequency and length of the contractions. That moment overshadows any other experience I’ve had with this watch so far.

What fascinates you about watches in general?

A mechanical watch is one of the few everyday items in our digital world that still works without any internet or electricity – it’s like a relic from the olden days.

A mechanical watch is one of the few everyday items in our digital world that still works without any internet or electricity – it's like a relic from the olden days.

What was your first watch?

My first non-digital watch was an automatic Fortis Flieger.

What is your “grail” watch?

One watch I’d like to own one day is the Rolex GMT-Master, reference 16750, from 1981. I find this watch both visually and historically interesting.

Do you have a favorite brand?

No, I don’t have a favorite brand. I always find watches I like from various brands and categories. Sometimes brand you’d previously pigeonholed can surprise you with something totally unexpected!

What watch would you like to buy next?

Right now, I’m thinking of buying a Rolex Datejust 1603 or an Explorer 14270 that I saw a colleague wearing and really liked.
